Vermiculite is a magnesium rich, silicate mineral similar to mica. It is produced by high temperature treatment of vermiculite ore, which produces golden brown lightweight granules. It is sterile, non-toxic, incombustible, asbestos-free and easy to handle. Vermiculite aerates heavy clay soils and potting mixes. It has high water-holding capacity, and is ideal for seed raising.
