Hellebores are popular plants for semi-shaded spots in the garden. They are ideal planted in drifts in a woodland garden setting. Hellebores (sometimes spelt Helebore or Helleborous) are long lived plants in the right conditions and once established tolerate dry periods though they prefer moist conditions. They are a valuable addition to the garden as they flower in winter adding interest to the garden when there is less happening from other plants. Hellebores are available in both single and double flower forms and breeding has resulted in a range of colours from dark purple to pink spotted white.
