Cymbidium orchids, commonly called boat orchids, are a much more cold-tolerant flowering orchid plant than many other species of orchids.1 They feature large blooms in winter on flower spikes with long, thin leaves. The flowers can last up to three months. Cymbidiums grow best in moist, loamy, acidic humus and prefer dappled sunlight, warmer temperatures, and humid climates like their natural habitat of tropical and subtropical Asia and Australia.
