Begonia cleopatrae is a charming rhizomatous species is from the beautiful Island of Palawan in the Philippines. It grows on a mountain called Cleopatra’s Needle. And that is how it got its name. It has a small, oval, leathery leaf that is chocolate brown with a wide light green area along the main vein. There are also green markings along the leaf margin. The back of the leaf is red. It has a compact growth habit and makes a great window sill plant. Just give it a little humidity and allow it to dry out between waterings. The flowers are light pink.
