Alstroemeria, also known as Peruvian Lilies or Lily of the Incas, are tuberous perennials that originally come from South America. They are resistant to both drought and frost, and they bloom for up to 9 months. Alstroemeria make a wonderful addition to borders, as they complement other plants and are excellent as cut flowers. They bloom freely in a variety of colors, and there is also a dwarf form known as Princess Lilies that maintains all the qualities of the larger variety but in a more compact size. These flowers are long-lasting when cut, making them perfect for arrangements in vases.
