Maintenance in the garden in October
Luscious Lawns
If you haven't fertilised your lawn in the past month, now's the time to do so, or consider planting a new lawn from seed this October. Established lawns should be thriving this month, making it the perfect time to begin regular mowing. Remember to trim only the top one-third of the grass to keep it looking vibrant and healthy.
Maintenance in the garden
As the weather warms up, it's time to embrace the vibrant growth of spring. Once your native plants have finished blooming, be sure to remove any spent flowers and prune them for a tidy shape.
Don’t forget to fertilize your other garden plants to promote healthy growth. Citrus trees, in particular, have hearty appetites, so treat them with a specialized citrus fertilizer. Just remember to avoid fertilizing on extremely hot days.
This month is also perfect for giving your indoor potted plants a refreshing spring clean. If any plants seem to be losing their vitality, consider repotting them with a high-quality potting mix and adding some slow-release fertilizer. After watering them in, gently wipe the leaves with a soft, damp cloth to remove any dust.
